There has been a reluctance by engineering companies to invest in development of their staff in the soft skills / business development areas which has adversely affected their competitiveness. This initiative is the vehicle, which will incentivise the sector to correct this, by facilitating engineering to form their own network and develop the programmes for engineers designed with the input of engineers. Consequently the sense of ownership, relevance and credibility will ensure the longevity of this initiative.
