About Engineers Skillnet

The Engineer’s Skillnet represents a network of engineering companies with strong technical skills. There is a need for engineering companies to develop higher levels of skills and competencies in non-technical areas to ensure competitiveness in this increasingly international and knowledge based sector. Companies in this sector are challenged with achieving increased productivity from an increasingly higher cost workforce. There is and will continue to be an increased demand for engineers in Ireland, because of the infrastructure deficit (€40 billion) driven by the public sector and continued economic growth. The tendency in the biotech, pharmaceutical, infrastructure sectors to work in multi-disciplinary teams, places new challenges on engineers to develop people and management skills. In addition, there is also increased demand on engineers to possess good business skills, due to major changes in the procurement routes. Engineers Skillnet believes that it can contribute in helping create a more rounded and skilled engineer in order to meet the demands of the engineering industry today.

Funding and Support

The Engineers Skillnet programme is funding under the Skillnets initiative. This is supported by the National Training Fund Where 55 million has be given by the government to support industry and boost the skills levels across companies and their employees. Engineers Skillnet is funded to a level of 60% allowing us to provide relevant and tailored training to the engineering industry and reduced cost.

Member Companies

The member companies comprise a wide range of engineering disciplines and industry sectors covering construction, consulting, project management, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and ICT. Our target group for training includes all levels of engineer, engineering technicians through to company directors in these companies.
