Overview
This one day workshop is designed for 8-12 middle management engineers and team leaders to develop their ability to communicate with staff and clients in a professional and productive way. It builds on their experience and knowledge and suggests different approaches to topics such as giving instructions and feedback. Using discussion forums, demonstration, practical exercises and case studies, it highlights communication pitfalls and offers practical suggestions to address these.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the workshop participants will be better able to:
- Give clear instructions and delegate tasks effectively
- Give and draw feedback from colleagues, clients and staff to improve productivity
- Identify different behaviour styles and adjust their own style to improve the outcome of the communication.
Who should attend ?
Engineers with five to eight years experience or anyone who they would feel that they would benefit from an advanced communication skills programme.

Penny Withey will be facilitating the workshop.
Penny holds a BA in Economics and Psychology from the University of Cape Town, a Diploma in Training from the IPM (South African equivalent of the CIPD) and a post graduate diploma in Industrial Relations from Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business. She has extensive experience in training time management skills gained from her management experience as the HR Manager of a large retail organisation in .
Penny has also run numerous similar workshops in both the academic and corporate sector.
